Challenge Ride Saturday 29th September

‘Hereward’s Hundred & Hereward’s Half’

Meet this Saturday 29th September.   In place of our usual 3 routes we will be doing a choice of either a 50 or 100 mile ride. Just turn up on the day at the usual time of 0830, main carpark at Ashbourne Leisure Centre. Decide which distance you’d like to do and sort yourselves into suitably paced groups.  All are invited to take part including ACC members and their friends. Participants are invited to give a suggested entry fee if they wish to, of £10 which will be donated to Midlands Air Ambulance in recognition of the very valuable service they have given to cyclists in the past including ACC’s own members. Payment is best made by BACS online to the ACC bank account. Please use the reference “Air Am + your surname”.  The donations will then be passed on to Midlands Air Ambulance. Last year when this was done Midlands Air Ambulance invited anyone who wished to go to have a look at their base at Tatenhill airfield – you can get to meet the paramedics and take a look at the rescue helicopter.

For the Challenge Rides themselves please ensure both you and your bike are in good working order before taking on the Challenge ride of your choice, make sure you carry the essentials – fuel for the ride – cash for refueling stops along the way – at least one spare tube, small puncture repair kit, multi tool or at least a tyre lever and a working pump – fully charged mobile phone – packable rain jacket. Recommend you have some lights as at this time of year the weather can be changeable 😉

Make sure you have a good look at the routes and load onto your devices if possible, remember you can download the Strava app onto your smart phone and load the route just in case you need it.

Here are the strava links to the two routes, there is a selection of refuel stop options along the way for you to choose from.
