Club Routes for Saturday 8th August
This weeks long route is 67 miles with 5282 feet elevation gain and takes in the famous Cat & Fiddle climb 😀
Here’s the Strava route The Cat
If you fancy taking on” The Cat” please meet at ALC at 08:00 hrs to allow a bit more time and still be back to Ashbourne in good time.
Route heads out via Mappleton – Blore – Waterhouses – Leek – Macc – The Cat – Buxton – Harpur Hill – Chelmorton – Monyash – Newhaven – Longcliffe – Fenny Bentley.
The Cafe stop is at Peak View tea rooms this is around the halfway point of the route, however it is before the summit of the climb (Cat & Fiddle Pub) for those Strava segment hunters you could continue to the top and then return to the Cafe ( I won’t be doing this by the way ), for anyone interested here’s the link to Strava Cat segment
Here’s some more general information about the climb, you can read about Frank Manning who did the Everesting challange earlier this year climbing the Cat from Macc to the pub 22 times, 318 miles, 30837 feet of climbing!! 😯 Cycling up hill
08:30 meet ALC as usual for short route
This weeks short route is 41 miles and is a club favourite, heads out via Clifton – Rocester – Croxden – Hollington -Doveridge – Cafe stop at Nose Bag or Salt Box back via Hatton – Church Broughton – Alkmonton.
For those of you who can’t make The Cat ride or just don’t fancy it and still want “some miles” you can easily extend the shorter route to suit if required 😉
