Jacqui Kinch – London to Paris 24hr Charity ride
24hr Challenge – 2 wheels, lycra and hurty hills!
On May 28th one of our Ashbourne Cycling Club members, Jacqui Kinch will be undertaking a massive challenge to raise funds for Macmillan and The Christie Oesophago-gastric cancer research project.
The challenge is to cycle from Big Ben, London and to arrive at the Eiffel Tower, Paris, 24hrs later and this includes the 5 hour ferry crossing!
Dave, a good friend of Jacqui’s was diagnosed with stage 3 stomach cancer in 2013. Thankfully after having a substantial part of his stomach removed along with other ‘bits and bobs’ and undergoing a gruelling course of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, he is now in remission and back to competing in triathlons, duathlons and other madcap events.
The challenge is being undertaken by 10 cyclists, 7 of whom are novice cyclists including the oncologist who treated and continues to treat Dave. The definition of novice is that they only got on their bikes in January ?!
If you would like to support Jacqui in this challenge and to raise funds for these two worthwhile charities please do have a look at the website https://chainsetandcrank.co.uk/ or go straight to the donation page at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/CycleLondon2Paris .
Many thanks
