At the AGM it was suggested that we target an event that is accessible for all of our riders and the Tour of Cambridge was suggested.

This takes place over the weekend of 1st – 3rd June, with the main ride taking place on the Sunday.  It would be really good to see lots of Ashbourne Cycling Club members riding together in their different groups.

The Gran Fondo Sportive starts at 12.00pm and is 79.3 miles / 127.6km in distance, on CLOSED ROADS and this is the unique selling point as there are very few closed roads mass cycling events.  Each group could have a different target to reach, for instance speed for the A group, distance and speed for the B group and distance for the C group.  Currently there is an ‘Early Bird’ discount for the Gran Fondo Sportive of £75 if booked by Sunday 4th Septemberand then the cost increases to £85.

There is also the additional option for the A group: the Team time trial (Team Chrono)  that takes place on the 2nd June and consists of teams of 4 over a 16.4mile / 26.4km distance again on CLOSED ROADS.  Entries for this open on 1st November.

You will need to enter on-line.  Once you have done so please let Jacqui Kinch know and then we can look at transport arrangements nearer to the date.  It could be that we wish to make a weekend of it and travel down on the Saturday to see the Individual and Team time trials, visit the exhibition (if there is one) and have an ACC night out!  All of this can be discussed in the future.
