Routes Saturday 18th November + Boylestone Big Breakfast!
Depart 9 am from main carpark outside Ashbourne Leisure Centre. Mudguards please if weather looking mucky/wet. Here’s a very informative link on Road Cycling Hand Signals and Calls – please have a read and it will help to ensure our group riding is safe and enjoyable 😉
All 3 Routes this week are heading south again and through Boylestone so that riders can take up the option of partaking in the fantastic Big Breakfast Event – freshly cooked, winter warming treat – proceeds all going towards the very worthy cause of fundraising for the Church Hall and Chapel.
A Route, approx avg speed 17-19 mph, 61 miles, 2,500 ft elevation. Heading out to Uttoxeter, ‘the Bromleys’, (first tea stop if desired at Fradley Junction – at 29.5 mile point), Walton Upon Trent, Hatton, Main tea stop at Boylestone for Big Breakfast, then bellies full of bacon and eggs you’ll speed those last few miles back into Ashbourne 😉 😛
B Route, 43 miles, 2,135 ft elev, heads out via Cycle path – Wyaston – Alkmonton – Hatton – Rolleston on Dove – Anslow – Hanbury – Scropton – Boylestone Big Breakfast Stop at 32 mile point – Hare Hill – Marston – Roston Common – Clifton – Ashbourne. If your bellies are bursting though 😛 you can chop a couple of miles off returning straight north via Alkmonton etc
Depending on who is there on the day the option can be decided for 2 paces – B Minus average speed 13-14 mph and a B Plus average speed of 15 – 17 mph (Ant is happy to lead this one again 🙂 )
C Route, approx avg speed 10 – 11 mph, 28.9 miles, 1,598 ft elev, heading out via Watery Lane, Sidesmill, Marston, Boylestone – Big Breakfast Stop 😀 , bellies full of fuel you’ll speed the last few miles back through Longford, Dobbinhorse Lane, 515 to Ashbourne.
