Routes Saturday 4th November – Meet 9 am
Meet at the winter start time from now on at 9 am. Main car park outside Ashbourne Leisure Centre. Please be sure to familiarise yourself with your chosen route beforehand and ensure you have your own layout of where the route goes – be that in map or GPS format. Please check the advised approximate average speed of each group and link up with the group that most closely matches your own. If during the first few miles of the ride it is becoming obvious that the pace is either too slow or too fast for some then gather together and make a decision as to whether the group should split down into smaller bunches or if you’re going to continue to ride together and will regroup at any turnings. Therefore hopefully everyone should get a ride appropriate to their ability on the day and groups should be able to ride mostly as one unit. On longer climbs or descents though it may be that it is best to just go at your own speed with a regroup at the top/bottom.
Thanks for this week’s route suggestions, forecast is for roads to be damp to begin with (mudguards 😉 ) but weather should hopefully then brighten up. Enjoy 🙂
A Route, approx average speed 17/18 mph, 55.6 miles, 4,816 ft elevation, heading out via Mapleton, Snelston, Yeaveley, Hollington, Mercaston, Wirksworth, Bonsall – cafe stop at Fountain Tea Rooms, Youlegreave, Newhaven, Longcliffe & back via Fenny Bentley.
B Route, approx avg speed 12/13 mph. 36 miles, 3,424 ft elevation, heading out Fenny Bentley, ‘Col de Parwich’ (your favourite 😉 ), Biggin, Longdale, Earl Sterndale, Longnor (Cafe Stop), Hulme End, Alstonfield, Ilam, Blore, Ashbourne
C Route, approx avg speed 10/11 mph. 30 miles, 1,871 ft elevation, heading out cycle path, Edlaston, Rodsley, Longford Lane to Hackwood Farm Cafe back through Radbourne Lees, Longford, Alkmonton, Yeavley into Ashbourne.
